About RMD
RMD Associates, LLC was founded by Michael Dutton a former field training officer and Academy instructor for the Los Angeles Police Department, Richard Wetzel a software engineer and web developer and Don Dutton an attorney and entrepreneur.
Our web based program Public Safety Training Systems was started after countless hours of discussion amongst the associates, their families and friends, regarding police work, training and court cases and how it impacts the individual as well as the agency. Much of the discussions centered around the types of activities that led to an officer being in court and having his training and experience called into question. These situations often led to uncomfortable and stressful time for the officer and further litigation for the police department, wasting valuable time and money.
The associates came to the conclusion that often times an officer who is unable to quickly recall his/her training was immediately put on the defensive. The police officers we talked to commented on the ever changing laws and policies that they would have to learn, that coupled with the countless hours it would take to get that information out to the department as whole led to incomplete and ineffective training. The associates figured there must be a simple, cost effective way to keep officers up to date, with the ever changing world in which they were fighting crime, and Public Safety Training Systems was born.
